Four people killed in Penticton, man turns himself in

PENTICTON — Four people were found dead in Penticton in three different locations Monday morning.
A 68-year-old man is in custody.
It all started at about 10:30 a.m., when police received reports of a possible shooting in the downtown area. Mounties warned people to avoid the city’s downtown because of a “serious and unfolding” incident.
“We have determined four people are deceased at three locations within a five-kilometre radius,” said RCMP Supt. Ted De Jager.
De Jager says the suspect turned himself in to RCMP at around 11:30 a.m.. “He came to the front desk of the detachment.”
Mounties are now searching his vehicle.
Police believe this was a targeted incident. Mounties have not shared the names of the victims as they have not yet informed all of the families, but do say the suspect and victims knew one another.
“For Penticton … it’s unprecedented,” De Jager said.
RCMP say the downtown area remains cordoned off.
“We continue to ask that you remain inside and avoid the area. Should the cordoned be lifted we are committed to issuing an update,” read an earlier release from police.
They are asking the public to follow the direction of police and to avoid areas bordered by Eckhardt Avenue and Lakeshore Drive, and Main and Power streets.

“For your own safety we ask that you restrict travel inside this zone and remain inside your residence, or place of work until we have issued further direction,” RCMP added.
