Two people seriously hurt after train hits car in Surrey

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Two people have serious injuries after the car they were in was hit by a freight train Monday morning.

It happened at around 10 a.m. at a marked train crossing at 179 St. near the Golden Ears Connector in the Port Kells area. Police say it appears the driver tried to make it across the tracks when the car was hit.

The driver and passenger were taken to the hospital. Their injuries are described as “serious” but there are no further details.

The Surrey RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team is taking over the investigation.
