All five puppies have been found and returned to their family

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – A fifth puppy which was stolen in Abbotsford has finally made its way back home.

Abbotsford Police say four-week-old Jude was still missing, after she and four other little pups were taken during a break-in on Tuesday, April 30th.

Sgt. Judy Bird of Abbotsford Police said four of the Shih Tzu puppies were recovered in Vancouver a short while later, as someone was trying to sell them outside the Vancouver Art Gallery.

“When the police approached the suspects, one of the female suspects fled on foot with one of the remaining puppies,” Bird said.

That puppy was Jude. Luckily, she was eventually found — as was announced in a tweet by the APD — and reunited with her owner and family.

“I don’t know if people actually really know the damage that can be done to a puppy when it’s taken away from their mom for that long,” Bird said ahead of Jude being found. “Not only that, but puppies that age do need to feed on a regular basis and I just don’t think that the people that have taken this puppy have actually really thought this through.”

It’s unclear if any arrests have been made, or what led to Jude being found.
