Unsung Hero: Longtime volunteer sells close to a million dollars worth of 50/50 tickets

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – The latest winner in the NEWS 1130 Unsung Hero contest is Joe Kirk of Richmond. He was nominated by Bob Nath.

Joe embodies the volunteer spirit.

He’s given back by volunteering as a 50/50 ticket seller at Vancouver Canucks games. He’s been able to sell close to $1 million worth of tickets with proceeds going to the Canucks for Kids Fund and BC Children’s Hospital.

When he’s not volunteering, the Gold Seal Certified carpenter is busy running his own business and renovating houses.

“In my capacity as a team leader, I am able to witness the dedication and tireless devotion to the program by this man,” his friend says. “Joe deserves this Unsung Hero recognition.”

Alpine Credits is acknowledging Joe with $500 & they’re also donating $1,000 to the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation.
