SURREY (NEWS 1130) — Mounties have given the all-clear after a threat involving Kwantlen Polytechnic University Wednesday morning, but it’s not yet clear when classes at the five campuses across Metro Vancouver will re-open.
Classes remain cancelled for the rest of the day, but will start again tomorrow.

Surrey RCMP says it’s now safe to return and there is no risk to the public. A police dog unit involving officers from across the Lower Mainland, as well as an explosive device unit and Transit Police were called in to sweep the schools.

“Police are confident that the areas are safe for the public and there is no imminent threat to safety,” reads a release from Surrey RCMP.
The “unsubstantiated threat” was directed at KPU Wednesday morning just after 9 a.m.
According to police, the threat wasn’t directed at any specific person or campus, but it did indicate today’s date. A spokesperson for RCMP said police were treating all threats as credible threats until they could find more information.
