12:30 p.m.

Police have made one arrest in the shootings of seven people at an off-campus party near Ball State University in Indiana.

Police told The (Muncie) Star Press that 19-year-old VaShaun Harnett of Muncie has been charged with two counts of attempted murder.

It wasn’t immediately clear why Harnett is charged in only two of the shootings or whether they might have been more than one shooter.

Muncie Police Chief Joe Winkle tells WXIN-TV that three people are in critical condition after the shooting early Saturday. Winkle says some of the victims are Ball State students. He says one was airlifted to a hospital in Indianapolis, about 50 miles (80 kilometres) southwest of Muncie.

Winkle says it appears the shooting happened after “some kind of confrontation inside the house.”
