Watch Game of Thrones finale on the big screen at the Rio Theatre

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Grab your sword, don your fanciest royal garb and get ready for the series finale to end all series finales on the big screen.

After eight years, 72 episodes and thousands of onscreen deaths, the Rio Theatre is preparing to host the Seven Kingdoms tonight for the final episode of “Game of Thrones.”

It’s the last time we’ll see Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, Arya Stark and all the other characters (who are still alive). The show’s creators and the cast have remained very tight-lipped on how the show will end.

And while there’s been much debate over who will take the Iron Throne and the overall direction of the final season, fans will likely be lining up to watch it all unfold larger-than-life at the Rio.

The theatre’s owner, Corinne Lea, says the night will start with special guests and a replay of last week’s episode and then show the series finale.

“So for those people who maybe missed getting a chance to see episode five on the big screen, they can come and see that. In between, we will be having some special guests and things like that. It will be a fun night,” she says.

“The last screening that we had, of episode five, had a huge crowd and everyone was just hanging on every word.”

And, Lea says, costumes are very much encouraged.

“The Rio Theatre always encourages costumes,” she says. “It just makes it more fun for everyone.”
