Mounties say Thetis Lake cliff pushing incident did not occur as was originally reported

VANCOUVER ISLAND (NEWS 1130) – Mounties on Vancouver Island now say they no longer believe a woman’s story about being pushed off a 12-metre cliff last month by strangers.

West Shore RCMP had initially said a woman reported it happened on May 21 at Thetis Lake Regional Park.

“The West Shore RCMP would like to advise that the investigation is now concluded. While we cannot provide further specifics, investigators have determined the incident did not occur as was originally reported and suspects are no longer being sought in relation to this matter,” Cst. Nancy Saggar with West Shore RCMP wrote in statement.

A 29-year-old woman had claimed her serious bruising came from being pushed off a cliff into the water by three women in their 20s or 30s. She said she didn’t know them, and that they had been drinking.
