Excellence in theatre: nominations for 2019 Jessie Awards are out

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Local theatre groups and their acts are in the spotlight with the 27th annual Jessie Awards.

Nominations for the event honouring Vancouver’s vibrant artistic community have been released, and include more than 50 productions and both large and small venues alike. The awards show, sponsored by NEWS 1130, takes place on July 15th.

Spokesperson Bonnie Allen says a favourite summer-time staple  in Vancouver has nabbed 15 nominations for its four productions this season: Bard on the Beach, which puts on Shakespeare festivals every summer. Six nominations were for ‘As You Like It.’

The Arts Club Theatre Company has also received 16 nominations in the Large Theatre Category for 8 productions.
