NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS 1130) – Douglas College has cancelled an anti-SOGI event planned for their New Westminster campus.

The college faced backlash online for hosting the event, which was called “The Erosion of Freedom”.

A statement from the college states the school became aware of the event Thursday morning and clarifies the event was booked externally.

“The description of the event for the booking was not forthcoming about the specific topic. As soon as we became aware of the nature of the booking, the booking was cancelled.”

While the talk has been scrapped at Douglas, other events had been slated in Vancouver and Langley.
