Second incident of violent bullying caught on video

After a disturbing video appears to show a boy being kicked in the face, the Surrey RCMP is now forwarding charges to the B.C. Prosecution Service. In addition, a second video is circulating and this time it comes out of Mission. Some of the images in this story may be disturbing. Ashley Burr has more.

MISSION (NEWS 1130) – Another disturbing bullying video has surfaced online, this time in Mission.

The video shows a 15-year-old boy having a slice of pizza slapped out of his hand before being pushed to the ground and hit repeatedly by another boy.

The victim’s mother, Nicole Townsend says she’s furious with the school’s response.

“My son sat in school for three hours with a concussion. I was not notified until four and a half hours after. I took him to the emergency room and RCMP. When I saw the video of what this child had done to my son, I was devastated.”

She says she was shocked by the violence and wants to see something done to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

“I would like justice to be served o these teens who were associated, instigated and the one teen who did the assault on my son.”

In a meeting with the school’s principal, Townsend learned the boy shown hitting her son is not currently in school. However, she hasn’t been told what his punishment might be.

Mission’s Public School Superintendent said in a statement Friday they are aware of the incident and appropriate action will be taken.

Editor’s note: A woman who identified herself as the mother of the boy who threw pushed the student to the ground in the video does not accurately portray what happened. Instead, she says this isn’t an example of bullying, but rather two kids who were goaded into fighting by a crowd of kids. She says there were non-physical conflicts before the video began that prompted the altercation.
