An online fundraising campaign has raised over $1,500 for a family of a baby who was attacked by a dog

The goal of the campaign is $5,000

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A seven-month-old boy who was viciously attacked by his family’s dog last month in Penticton is recovering after extensive surgery to his face.

A GoFundMe page created by the baby’s uncle, Daniel Hill, said Kade had to be flown to B.C. Children’s Hospital in Vancouver after the attack on May 31.

“Mom and Dad were unsure of the extent of the damage,” Hill said on the GoFundMe page. “Once out of surgery, they were told his optical bone on his right eye, and nose were completely shattered and required extensive repair. This unfortunately will result in numerous trips back to Vancouver as well.”

Within days of being launched, the online fundraiser has managed to raise almost half its goal of $5,000 to help with the family’s costs, including travelling for additional medical appointments.

Hill adds the family’s eldest son, Ty, who witnessed the attack, will also require counselling.

NEWS 1130 has reached out to the family, Penticton RCMP, Penticton dog control and B.C. Children’s Hospital for additional information.
