New survey shows food prices concern Canadians in lead up to federal election

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – With grocery bills constantly rising, a new poll suggests nine out of ten Canadians are worried about food prices in the lead up to the fall federal election.

The Abacus Data survey, commissioned by Food & Consumer Products of Canada, also shows a majority of Canadians think prices will continue to rise if the next government doesn’t strengthen Canada’s food industry.

Abacus CEO David Coletto says “affordability anxiety” is a defining issue in the upcoming election, with Canadians worried about keeping up with the cost of living.

He says the survey found cost of living concerns spanned demographics and political bents.
