Three paramedic crews and an air ambulance responded to calls that a teen was trapped by a fallen tree around 3 p.m.

School district Superintendent Shelley Green confirmed the death in a statement.

“It is with deep regret that we inform you about a recent loss to our learning community. This afternoon a student from Lansdowne Middle School died suddenly on a school field trip. This loss may raise certain emotions, concerns, and questions from our entire school district, especially our students,” she writes.

“We are saddened by the loss to our school community, and will make every effort to support you and your child as you need.”
