Ban clothing donation bins, says city councillor

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Five people have died in clothing donation bin-related incidents since 2015, and now a city councillor wants them banned until safer alternatives are available.

Councillor Sarah Kirby-Yung will ask council to pass a motion to forward this request to the Union of BC Municipalities.

Kirby-Yung has previously been successful in limiting clothing donation bins in Vancouver. She was able to have them banned on private property within Vancouver city limits.
