Five members of the same family now charged in relation to death of Bhavkiran Dhesi

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Five members of one family have now been charged in relation to the death of Bhavkiran “Kiran” Dhesi, whose body was found in Surrey two years ago.

The body of 19-year-old Dhesi was found inside a burned out SUV along 24th Avenue near 188 Street in August of 2017. She had last been seen leaving her family’s home the night before.

Harjot Deo, 21, was arrested at Vancouver International Airport and charged with second-degree murder in May of this year when he returned from a trip. Police say Deo was in a romantic relationship with Dhesi, who had received a life-saving kidney transplant six months before she was killed.

Deo’s mother and sister face charges in connection to the case, and two additional members of his family were taken into police custody on Friday.

Harjot’s mother, Manjit Kaur Deo, and his sister, Inderdeep Kaur Deo, were charged with accessory after the fact to murder in May.
