Surrey decommissions North Surrey Rec Centre

SURREY (NEWS 1130) — Surrey City Council has voted to decommission the North Surrey Rec Centre.

The arena, located near City Hall, was first constructed in 1965 and has two sheets of ice, fitness spaces, and an indoor pool.

The plan is to relocate ice and sport programming to the new North Surrey Sport & Ice Complex slated to open in September.

City staff say the current center is aging, unsafe and should be demolished all at once.
