A 78-year-old man was found dead at McIver's Appliance Sales and Service around 8:30 Wednesday morning

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A neighbourhood in South Vancouver is now the possible scene of a murder.

Homicide investigators were scouring the McIver Appliance Sales and Services for evidence Wednesday evening after the suspicious and sudden death of 78-year-old John Leslie McIver.

McIver was a longtime figure in Vancouver’s retail industry.

Police were called to the scene near Ontario Street and East 69th Avenue Wednesday morning.

The parking lot of McIver Appliance Sales and Services was sectioned off by police tape, as detectives searched for evidence.

While they haven’t released any information on the cause of death, police say it is being considered sudden and suspicious.

Homicide detectives and forensics investigators wearing white full body suits were seen filing in and out of the store. Multiple evidence markers were also taken in, as investigators combed the store for clues.

No arrests have been made, and so far police aren’t releasing information on a possible suspect.
