VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Vancouver Police Department has arrested an erratic and likely impaired driver who drove into oncoming traffic and pedestrians on Tuesday night.

Just before 10 p.m., police were called to Granville and West Georgia when witnesses saw a grey Toyota Camry driving toward pedestrians at a bus stop, and then into oncoming traffic.

Thanks to a witness who decided to follow the driver and provided updates to dispatchers on the continuously dangerous driving, officers were able to box the car in at Main and National.

Harpreet Gill, the 37-year-old driver of the vehicle, was arrested and has been charged with dangerous driving. Police say additional charges, including impaired driving, are expected.

No one was injured and there was minor damage to the vehicles involved. Gill, from Surrey, remains in custody.
