Orphaned kittens found on road in Maple Ridge

MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS 1130) – The BC SPCA in Maple Ridge is caring for four orphaned kittens after they were found in a closed box on the centre median of 113B Avenue near Airport Way.

Branch Manager Krista Shaw says they were discovered by a passerby who was waiting for a nearby train to pass.

“When the engine was off he heard the kittens crying in the box and rescued them,” says Shaw.

The week-old kittens were treated by a local vet for fleas and for heat exposure. Thee three female kittens and one male kitten have all been placed in pairs in fosters homes.

“Their eyes haven’t opened yet,” says Shaw. “They are very vocal and like to let us know when they are hungry.”

The kittens will be ready for adoption in eight weeks.
