Three-year-old Surrey boy found

Update: Police report the boy has now been located and is safe.

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – As the search continues for a three-year-old boy missing from Surrey, no Amber Alert has been issued.

Cpl. Elenore Sturko with Surrey RCMP says the mother is allowed to be with the boy, but is supposed to comply with an order to report on his well-being.

“There’s certain criteria that have to be met when an Amber Alert is put into place and in this case, it did not fit those criteria,” says Sturko, answering why an Amber Alert was not issued. “One of the criteria being that law enforcement must confirm that an abduction has taken place. This isn’t the case.”

Police became involved in the search after a check well-being appointment was missed.

It’s been more than a week since police first asked for help finding the child and his 34-year-old mom.
