SURREY (NEWS 1130) — Even though wait times at border crossings returned to normal Saturday evening, it’s still a good idea to leave yourself plenty of time if you’re driving south of the border or taking the ferry this Canada Day long weekend.

Southbound border waits at most crossings were well over an hour all day Saturday, with it being difficult to get access to the NEXUS lanes at the Peace Arch and Pac Highway.

Even the crossings at Aldergrove and Sumas had waits longer than an hour.
On the ferries, you should expect longer wait times this weekend, especially if your trip takes you to the Sunshine Coast. The Queen of Coquitlam vessel is out of service, meaning sailings aren’t as frequent as usual. Check in with BC Ferries for a full list of cancellations and delays.
