RCMP investigating why officer discharged weapon at Surrey home

SURREY (NEWS 1130) –  The Surrey RCMP says it is investigating why a police officer from Langley discharged a firearm in a Surrey home early Wednesday morning.

Police say officers responded to reports of an injured woman in Langley and the investigation progressed to a Surrey home where officers were confronted by a distraught man who allegedly produced a weapon.

In response to the man’s actions, police say one of the officers discharged a service firearm, although no one was hurt.

The man was arrested under the Mental Health Act and Surrey investigators are looking into the discharge of the police weapon.
