Pastor who resigned after Toronto private school sexual assault scandal coming to West Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — One of the men who resigned in the wake of students being arrested for an alleged gang sexual assault at a Catholic private school is beginning a new assignment in the Archdiocese of Vancouver this coming week.

Reverend Jeff Thompson was president of St. Michael’s College School in Toronto until last November.

Effective July 11, Thompson will become assistant pastor for Christ the Redeemer parish in West Vancouver

Thompson and the principal of the school stepped down after six students were arrested in connection with a gang sexual assault that was caught on video.

The six boys were charged with are assault, sexual assault, and sexual assault with a weapon in connection to an alleged attack with a broomstick at the school.

They cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and the case has not yet been set for trial.
