Fun City Festival in North Vancouver cancelled

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Fun City Festival that has featured a 1,000-foot water slide the past few summers has been cancelled for this year.

The event was supposed to go ahead on the weekend of July 13 and 14, but the water slide provider, Fun City Sliders, told the City they would not be able to fulfill their commitment.

“We know this is disappointing news for the community and we’re disappointed too,” the release from the city acknowledges. “Fun City Festival has been a tremendous success for the past few years and the City was looking very forward to hosting the event again this summer.”

Fun City Sliders decided to cancel for this summer because of the costs associated with operating a niche event.

“This has been a very hard decision to make and was not taken lightly,” says the company on their website. “We apologize to those who have purchased tickets and we will work diligently to process your refund promptly.”

There are still summer events happening in North Vancouver. A community celebration for the official opening of the Shipyards at the Waterfront take place on July 20.
