Princeton woman encounters cougar while camping

PRINCETON (NEWS 1130) – A Princeton woman says she had the “scariest experience” of her life on Friday when she encountered a cougar.

In a post to the Facebook group Princeton BC & Area Issues, Katlyn Marion says it happened when she was camping near the Princeton KVR trestle bridge on July 5.

She says at 4 a.m. she was “trapped in my tent [by] a very large aggressive cougar for 40 minutes until the cops came. If I made one move in the tent it would start growling and showing his teeth.”

Marion says she saw the cougar standing by the fire and called the RCMP, but it took off when officers arrived.

She says she called RCMP repeatedly, but the call kept dropping due to poor cell service in the area.
