VPD arrest 19-year-old Surrey man who evaded traffic stop

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – What was supposed to be a routine traffic stop turned into much more for a pair of Vancouver Police officers on Tuesday night.

Just before 9:00 p.m. the officers attempted to pull over a Honda Accord near Boundary Road and Canada Way, but the driver ignored the lights and siren and sped off. He didn’t make it far, though, before ending up wedged against a curb between two vehicles near Willingdon and Canada Way.

The driver – a 19-year-old from Surrey – was arrested at gunpoint.

The VPD is recommending a bunch of charges, including possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of probation.
