Man dies in fall from West End apartment, IIO investigates

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A tragic end to a police callout in Vancouver’s West End on Saturday afternoon, after reports a man was throwing large items out of his ninth-storey window.
Just after noon, police received several calls about items like TVs and bicycles being thrown from the building on Bidwell near Haro Street.
Police quickly located and entered the apartment, and say they found a man inside who appeared distraught.
He then fell from a window and died as a result, and now the Independent Investigations Office is investigating.
The items were landing down onto the street below, and was a dangerous situation for anyone walking by.
Police have not provided any further information, and there were no immediate reports of anyone being hurt by the thrown items.
