‘An extremely tragic incident’: Two toddlers drown on Alberta First Nation

SAMSON CREE NATION (660 NEWS) – RCMP are investigating the death of two toddlers.

Maskwacis RCMP say they were called out to the Samson Cree Nation on Tuesday evening just before seven for reports of two missing children.

“Unfortunately, on our arrival, the children had just been located by the family in a body of water on the property that belonged to the family,” said Cpl Laurel Scott with the RCMP

The toddlers, who’s ages haven’t been revealed and are siblings were pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.

The Major Crimes Unit is helping with the investigation, but officers don’t suspect foul play in these deaths.

“At this point, nothing has lead us to believe there’s any criminality in relation to this tragic occurrence,” said Cpl. Scott. “”It’s an extremely tragic incident. Right now we know that the family and the community is in shock and mourning.”

Cpl Scott said no further information will be released.
