MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS1130) — A man and woman are in hospital after the car they were in went over an embankment in Maple Ridge Thursday morning.

The man was airlifted to hospital while the woman was taken by ambulance, according to a release from the Ridge Meadows RCMP. 

The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. on the Haney Bypass near Harrison Street. Police are on scene investigating.

For several hours westbound lanes on the bypass were closed and eastbound traffic was down to one lane.

The road closures ended at around 2 p.m. Thursday.
