Restrictions lifted on how much booze you can bring back into B.C.

VICTORIA (NEWS 1130) — As long as you’re not selling it, you can now bring an unlimited amount of alcohol from other provinces back into B.C.

Restrictions have been lifted on the amount of wine, beer, spirits or cider someone can bring into the province for personal consumption. Similar changes are being made in other provinces, including Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

The government says the changes come after Premier John Horgan committed to reducing limits on bringing alcohol across provincial borders at a meeting of Canada’s Premiers.

“For too long, British Columbians faced restrictions when bringing wine, beer and spirits from other provinces back to B.C. Our government has taken action to fix this,” Bruce Ralston, Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology, said in a release.

Before July 8, only three litres of spirits, nine litres of wine, and 25.6 litres of beer, cider and coolers were allowed. There were no limits on 100 per cent Canadian wine bought from a Canadian winery.
