COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) — A black bear has been euthanized after knocking a man down near the Coquitlam River.
It happened on Tuesday outside the man’s tent, and although he was shaken he luckily wasn’t injured.
Conservation officers closed the area for campers while searching for the bear.
They trapped a bear believed to be the same animal based on description and location before deciding that euthanizing the bear was the best course of action.
Since then, the area and surrounding trails have been reopened to the public.
