Surrey RCMP investigating robbery, two police cars crash

SURREY (NEWS 1130) — Police in Surrey are looking into a robbery that happened in the Newton area Tuesday night, with two police cars being involved in a crash while responding to the incident.
The robbery happened outside a home near 148 Street and 68 Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Police were told there was a man, possibly with a gun, demanding an adult hand over “personal items.”

Two police cars crashed at the intersection of 72 Avenue and 142 Street while responding to the emergency call, and two officers were sent to hospital and treated for minor injuries. Both have since been released, and the cause of the crash is being investigated.
The suspect is being described as a white man in his early twenties, about 5’8″ tall with brown hair and a slim build.
