COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – A Coquitlam baseball team is headed to the World Series after winning the Canadian Little League baseball championship on Saturday.

The Coquitlam A’s beat Quebec’s Mirabel Diamond in Ancaster, Ontario 6-3, securing a place representing Canada in the Little League World Series.

The A’s pitcher, Matthew Shanley, threw a no-hitter through 4 2/3 innings.

This is British Columbia’s 14th Canadian title in the last 15 years, but Team Canada has never won the World Series.

The team of 13 kids, all around 12 years old, won’t be coming home before they hit the road. They’re headed straight to Pennsylvania, where the World Series is held every year.
