FREDERICTON (NEWS 1130) – Residents in Fredericton plan to mark Saturday’s one-year anniversary of the tragic shooting incident that claimed four lives in the New Brunswick capital.

Hands and Hearts Across the City, an event held just days after the shootings last August 10, hopes to get enough people to once again link hands across the Bill Thorpe walking bridge over the St. John River.

Organizer Jessica Millier says it’s about honouring the victims, their families and everyone affected by the tragedy.

Matthew Raymond is charged with the first-degree murders of Fredericton police constables Sara Burns and Robb Costello and civilians Donnie Robichaud and Bobbie Lee Wright. He is accused of firing a long gun from his apartment window, killing the two civilians as they loaded a car for a trip on Aug. 10. Police allege Raymond shot the two officers as they responded to the scene.
