Unsung Hero: Local woman helps dogs find homes and those with special needs

By

COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – The latest winner in the NEWS 1130 Unsung Hero contest is Yuana Hexamer of Coquitlam. She was nominated by Sarah Boyer.

Yuana has dedicated her life to helping those who cannot help themselves. She started a dog rescue society called Dhana Metta Rescue and works tirelessly to help man’s best friend be the best dogs they can be before adopting them out to suitable homes.

She also takes in dogs with special needs when others won’t or they are scheduled to be put down.

“When I heard about the Unsung Heroes on NEWS 1130 I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of this and I know she would put the money right back into the dogs because that is the kind of person she is. She is truly an angel,” says Boyer.

Alpine Credits is acknowledging Yuana with $500 and they’re also donating $1,000 to the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation.
