RCMP investigate minor officer-involved crash at Squamish Motorcycle Festival

SQUAMISH (NEWS 1130) – BC RCMP Traffic Services is investigating a crash between a Mountie on a motorcycle and another biker at the Squamish Motorcycle Festival last weekend.

Video of the Aug. 10 incident shows a Traffic Services officers and another motorcyclist on their vehicles facing each other, revving their engines and spinning their tires to create smoke. The officer suddenly inches forward, and their bike collides with a third, passing motorcyclist.

The officer had minor injuries while no one else was hurt.

“The actions of the officer are not in keeping with my expectations or that of the RCMP,” BC RCMP Traffic Services Supt. Holly Turton said. “We expect our officers to exercise better judgement than what was displayed in the video.”

Damage to the motorcycle was minimal.
