NEWS 1130 Community Spotlight: Arts and Culture

The 7th annual Diner en Blanc drew in the foodies, socialites and who’s who of Vancouver. This annual top secret outdoor dinner event has been on many a summer hit list year after year. This year the location was announced as George Wainborn Park in Vancouver.

Saturday was a cultural celebration. I started at India Live on Granville Street and dove into the culture, history and art of India put on by the South Asian Family Association. I even had the Sikh Riders of Canada wrap my first turban!




The afternoon I moved over to the Vancouver Chinatown Festival and soaked up the sights, sounds and flavours of China right downtown. From Martial Arts to Dim Sum and everything in between the day was colourful, diverse and exciting.

It was an artful Sunday at the Roundhouse Community Centre for the Vancouver Outsider Arts Festival. Discover so many local organizations providing community members with a free space to create. ┬áInterviewing artists like Cynthia Li on her journey to wellness though art and and GVizualArt ‘s depression series were beyond inspirational.
