MACKENZIE (NEWS 1130) –¬†An extensive search for a pre-schooler who disappeared in the woods south of Mackenzie in northern B.C. has ended successfully.

A Facebook page administered by the District of Mackenzie Emergency Network says four-year-old George Hazard-Benoit has been found.

The little boy was left in a van Saturday while his mom and a friend were picking berries at Lions Lake. When they returned to the van at around noon, he was gone.

Hundreds of volunteers and search and rescue personnel had been called out, from all over northern B.C.

The Emergency Network says the search lasted about 30 hours with teams across the province.

An RCMP aircraft eventually spotted the boy, and the RCMP’s dog service was called in to recover him.

The four-year-old has been taken to a hospital to be checked out, and the RCMP says he’s in stable condition.
