NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — One of the worst traffic hot spots in Metro Vancouver is getting attention from the Federal government.
The government announced Tuesday it would be offering $250,000 in funding to analyze traffic congestion on the North Shore.

Patrick Stafford-Smith with the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce says North Shore businesses are struggling to grow because finding employees willing to sit in traffic is a challenge.
“This is the number one economic issue, the transportation problem. We need to think of it as more than just moving commuters,” he says. “We need to start looking at the business it impacts and the economic prosperity that it provides the whole region.”
He says if we want a Metro Vancouver that’s livable in the future, we need to look at the bigger picture.
The money will be used by the City of North Vancouver to create and present a business case to TransLink for a new fixed transit line across Burrard Inlet.
