Vancouver mom linked to U.S college admission scandal

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — The latest parent linked to the ongoing U.S. college entrance scandal is a woman from Vancouver.

The L.A. Times is reporting the mom –who has not been charged– is linked to the indictment of a UCLA soccer coach, who resigned in March, and a college counselor who’s a cooperating witness in the FBI investigation.

In October, she allegedly agreed to pay $400,000 USD for her 17-year-old son — who doesn’t play soccer — to be recruited and he was also awarded a scholarship.

The scandal involves prominent Vancouver businessman and former CFL player David Sidoo, as well as American actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin.

Sidoo has pleaded not guilty to charges including wire fraud and conspiracy to commit mail fraud.

He’s accused of making two $100,000 USD payments to have someone else take entrance exams for his two sons.
