Police remove ‘skimmer’ from ATM at Victoria’s Tourist Information Centre

VICTORIA (NEWS 1130) – If you recently visited the Tourist Information Centre at Victoria’s Inner Harbour, you might want to check your banking information. A skimmer was found at the Centre’s high-volume ATM on Wharf Street near Government Street.

Staff at the Centre contacted police after a passerby noticed a suspicious device attached to the card input at the ATM, later identified as a skimmer.

The Victoria Police Department says it has been removed, but it’s not clear how many PIN numbers may have been compromised or how long the device was there.

If you think your card may have been compromised at this location, contact your bank or call Victoria Police at (250) 995-7654.
