Transit Police make 7 arrests in 6 hours on Monday

METRO VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — It was a busy night for Transit Police on Monday, as officers made seven arrests in just six hours.
A man pushing through fair gates at the Skytrain was taken into custody after police realized he was carrying a replica handgun and had an outstanding warrant.

That was just one of seven arrest warrants made on a busy Monday night by Transit Police.
“In the span of just six hours, our officers executed seven arrest warrants, under five different circumstances, including a Canada-wide warrant for robbery,” Sgt. Clint Hampton says in a video posted on Twitter.

He says one of the arrests were made just outside Transit Police headquarters.
“They were looking out the window when they recognized a man below. That man had an outstanding warrant and was placed under arrest,” he says.
A woman was also arrested for assaulting a police officer.

Hampton adds, Transit Police are no strangers to making warrant arrests – with 989 made last year.
