Delta Police are urging people not to use alone and want to reinforce that the Good Samaritan Act protects anyone who witnesses or experiences an overdose from facing criminal charges for drug possession if they call 911.
“The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act applies to anyone seeking emergency support during an overdose, including the person experiencing an overdose. The Act protects the person who seeks help, whether they stay or leave from the overdose scene before help arrives. The Act also protects anyone else who is at the scene when help arrives,” the Act reads.
In three cases, people consumed what they believed to be cocaine. It’s not known what the fourth person took.
