VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Two Vancouver Police officers are nursing some relatively minor injuries after they were roughed up trying to arrest a man near the Aquatic Centre.
The VPD says they were called to the scene Wednesday night near Pacific and Thurlow Street after people saw a man yelling and behaving erratically. When officers tried to put handcuffs on him, he apparently fought back.
One officer ended up with scratches and an injured arm. The suspect also tried to take her firearm. The other officer, a sergeant, was also scratched and bit by the man, who took off.
The 50-year-old was eventually tracked down with the help of other nearby VPD officers who used a Taser.
