Two-year-old Surrey murder still unsolved; investigators plead for witnesses to come forward

Police are looking for suspects in the 2017 Surrey homicide of Wally Rogers. Isabelle Raghem tells us no arrests have been made.

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Two years after a Surrey man was killed in a scuffle, homicide investigators are hoping the people who have information on his death come forward.

Sgt. Frank Jang says Wally Rogers was fatally stabbed when he tried to save his wife, after she got in a fight with a stranger at 44th Street near 88th Avenue.

“At the time of Wally’s murder, we learned of several individuals who may have vital information about this case, but chose not to say anything,” he says. “We made many attempts to connect with them only to have the doors shut in our face.”

Jang adds this is unacceptable and says if they have the information to solve a man’s murder, they need to come forward in what he says is not a random case.

“At the same time, Wally was simply, was as we understand, out there trying to defend his wife, his loved one,” he says.

Jang adds Rogers, who was in his 60’s, was known to police. There have been no arrests in his murder.
