Victoria man who fed bears Timbits fined $2,000

VICTORIA (NEWS 1130) — He fed wild bears some Timbits, and now he’s getting a hefty fine.
The B.C. Conservation Service says a Victoria man who took pictures of himself giving the bear the tasty treat, will be paying a fine of $2,000.
This might make you think twice before feeding the bears (and posting about it on social media)…

He’s also been ordered to stay a minimum of 50 meters away from any bears, for at least six months.
The incident happened along the Alaska Highway back in 2018.
The man was charged for unlawfully feeding bears, and plead guilty in provincial court.
