Surrey RCMP urges public to stay away from victim of targeted shooting

SURREY (NEWS 1130) — Mounties in Surrey are warning you to stay away from a man who was involved in a targeted shooting on Tuesday. It’s a rare situation where the victim poses a threat to public safety.

According to the RCMP, Thomas Gabriel Saul was hurt in the shooting that happened near a daycare and two schools in the Fraser Heights neighbourhood on Sept. 3. Investigators say he was also the intended target of a shooting in Burnaby last month.

Even though his life is in apparent danger, police say the 35-year-old from New Westminster hasn’t been co-operating with them or giving them much information.

Saul is known to police and has a history of involvement with the drug trade in the Lower Mainland.

Meantime, police are continuing to investigate the shooting that also left another man hurt. Mounties say people in Fraser Heights may notice more police around as they canvass the area and gather more evidence.

They have released a photo of a suspect vehicle and are asking anyone who recognizes the black Dodge Journey to contact police.
