Former Burnaby youth hockey coach arrested, facing child pornography charges

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) — Parents are being notified a former youth hockey coach in Burnaby has been arrested and is facing charges related to child pornography.

The arrest and charges prompted the club to send a letter home to parents, according to Rob Ward, the President of the Board of Directors of the Burnaby Winter Club.

“Thursday afternoon we received correspondence confirming that they had arrested and charged this individual. We worked with Port Moody police to craft as much information as we could share with our membership,” he says.

Mandatory publication bans apply to cases involving sex crimes with underage victims, to protect the identities of victims and witnesses.

Ward says concerned parents are invited to attend an information session with the club and police Sunday afternoon.
