VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Thousands of people across B.C. and the country are gathering for a cause that has been uniting us for nearly four decades.
The 39th annual Terry Fox Run is on Sunday, keeping the young Canadian hero’s dream of a world without cancer alive.
Donna White is provincial director of the Terry Fox Foundation — and explains Terry had a specific fundraising goal she’d like to see happen now.
“It’s great to see new people coming out and people who continue to share their story and their reason to be involved,” White said.
Big turnout for this year’s Terry Fox Run in Coquitlam. The rain held off this time! @BT_Vancouver @CityNewsVAN @NEWS1130 @cityofcoquitlam @TerryFoxCanada pic.twitter.com/6cTsBRATVD

There are many runs, but the largest is in Port Coquitlam, Terry’s hometown.
He set off from Newfoundland in April, 1980 to run across the country, but ultimately had to stop in September — and passed away the following year.
Runs held since 1980 have raised almost 800-million dollars.
